Have you ever noticed how those hundred-year-old plumbing pipes in older buildings keep on working? One reason for their longevity is that they are simple. Gravity and atmospheric pressure - not gears, chemicals, or electricity - power these systems.
Yes, some pipe materials fail and need replacement, and clogs inside pipes have to be cleared sometimes. But the natural laws of gravity and pressure that drive these systems will keep working as long as we have this planet to live on.
There’s no simpler or more reliable system than the laws of nature.
What Works for Pipes Works for FSorb Sound Panels
So, why is an acoustic panel maker writing about pipes? Because the same principles of simplicity and elegance apply to sound panels. When you buy sound panels that rely on simple materials and dependable scientific principles, you buy safer, longer-lasting, and more effective panels.
That’s one reason we make our FSorb sound panels as simple as possible.
Simplicity: It’s not always easy to achieve, but it almost always achieves better results. FSorb sound panels harness the power of simplicity. The benefits include:
No Need For Artificial Binders
Typical sound panels rely on artificial adhesives to bind their different materials together. FSorb panels do not need this process of artificial binding. Instead, during the manufacturing process they rely on simple and reliable heat and pressure to bind materials together.
This works because different PET fibers within FSorb panels melt at different temperatures. About 20 percent of the fibers in the recipe melt at a lower temperature, allowing them to melt sooner and bind together with the remaining fibers, creating a natural cohesion.
This process creates a strong panel by welding together the fibers while still maintaining the open space between the fiber intersections. Eliminating the need for adhesives and other binding also leaves the air pockets undisturbed, allowing for better acoustical absorption. As a bonus, the sound panels can help insulate spaces to better regulate temperature and save money on climate control.
No Volatile Organic Compounds
Because we bind FSorb panels with heat and pressure instead of artificial binders and adhesives, our panels release no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the air. Our UL-certified Environmental Protection Declaration (EPD) confirms this.
Releasing no VOCs creates a healthier product and more simplicity for our customers. There is no need to encapsulate FSorb panels with fabrics or to coat them with any type of sealer. They are safe to touch and odorless, so there are no lingering smells or off-gassing periods.
In contrast, many imported panels that claim to contain only PET fibers have a strong scent. This means they are off-gassing something that is added to the mix of PET fibers but is not reported in the manufacturing process. You can truly smell the difference.
With FSorb products, the paneled space can be occupied immediately - on the same day as installation. After installation, there’s no need to monitor air quality for the presence of VOCs. This simplicity adds to the value of FSorb starting on Day 1.
FSorb Acoustical Panels Are Deceptively Simple
We’ve all heard the phrase “deceptively simple.” This phrase reflects an important reality: Simple solutions are rarely the easiest or the first solutions. Instead, these simple solutions usually require years of experience, trial-and-error, and revision.
Legendary inventor Thomas Edison knew this. He spent years trying out thousands of materials before producing the first usable light bulb. Now, there’s nothing simpler than installing a light bulb and turning it on. In fact, the light bulb itself has become a symbol for simple ideas.
Thoughtfulness + Hard Work = Simplicity
This same equation holds true for appliances, vehicles, medication, movies, and, yes, for building materials like our FSorb panels. When your shipment of panels arrives, the panels will be easy to install because they integrate directly with standard building materials. You won’t need to treat or monitor the air because FSorb panels release no volatile compounds.
None of this is happenstance. As we developed FSorb sound panels, we found ways to achieve these goals along the way. Everything about FSorb was carefully thought out. As we engineered these products, we learned how to make the panels stronger, lighter, more color fast, and safe.
We use only PET fibers and found the ideal fiber length and denier (thickness of the fiber) and color selections. We worked with various densities and thicknesses to create the optimal acoustical performance as well as the functionality of the panels.
Standard FSorb panels arrive in 4-feet by 8-feet sheets. We chose this size because it reflects the standard for drywall and other building products in North America. Installers already know how to store and handle — and how to order — materials based on this size.
Simplicity Allows for More Innovation
The value of FSorb panels continues to pay off after the manufacturing process. Unlike typical acoustical panels, FSorb panels do not limit designers’ vision for the interior of a building. Instead, they leave room for more design innovation.
FSorb panels can be arranged into shapes and designs to enhance the interior design of a building. Grids, baffles, cells, radiating waves or blades — or anything else a designer chooses — are easy to achieve. FSorb’s T-Snap and F-Snap attachment points, combined with available and inexpensive building materials, create an unlimited array of options.
Our expert team of designers and installers can also help enhance your vision for your space.
Keeping It Simple: FSorb Equals Value
Since 2009, FSorb has created value for building owners, managers, and interior designers by creating some of the simplest and best acoustical panels available in the North American market.
FSorb’s founder and CEO, Doug Bixel, started FSorb after seeing the need for sound panels that excel at their purpose — effectively shaping acoustics inside buildings — without creating a host of new problems inside gathering spaces.
FSorb achieves this goal by pairing product performance with simplicity, health consciousness, and ecological responsibility. Since it is baked into the core of every FSorb sound panel, this pairing of performance and simplicity creates a variety of values, which include:
Effective acoustical absorption
Increased productivity by creating a calmer indoor environment
Peace of mind from being in more peaceful spaces
A way to re-use reclaimed plastic materials
A way to grow local economies through American-made products
Local code compliance
Fast product availability
Easy installation
Integration with standard building materials
Shorter building schedules
Cost effectiveness
These values come built into all FSorb panels, in any of the panels’ 24 colors, regardless of how they’re shaped and integrated by building designers.
FSorb Adds Simple Value to Your Building Project
The simple values of FSorb — which started on the drawing board and solidified during the manufacturing process — will pay off immediately and consistently throughout the life of your interior space.
FSorb panels will help your indoor space deliver quality to everyone who spends time there. These panels will deliver this quality without requiring extra work, ongoing air quality monitoring, or other worrisome maintenance.
